On Friday, MPP Dave Smith joined representatives from the Municipality of Trent Lakes to see the results of the $185,400 Capital grant the municipality received in 2024 from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant was used to construct the Lakehurst Hall Lower Bowl, a new events space for residents of all ages to enjoy art and recreation programming outdoors.
The Municipal office will be closed on Monday, August 3rd, for the Civic Holiday.
All Transfer Stations will be open on the holiday Monday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Friday, July 31, we will be hosting a grand opening of The Lakehurst Hall’s brand new outdoor events space!
You are invited to join Municipal staff, MPP Dave Smith and Ontario Trillium Foundation as we officially open the new space to the public.
This new Lower Bowl features an accessible, 3-tiered, armour stone seating system and performance area. The public space will allow community members of all ages and abilities to be enriched through art programming.

Lakelands Public Health is urging residents of Haliburton, Kawartha, Peterborough and Northumberland to take precautions to protect against heat- and air quality-related illnesses. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued Heat and Air Quality Warnings for the region. When both heat and air quality warnings are in place, most people should prioritize keeping cool.
Lakelands Public Health is urging residents of the region to take precautions to protect against heat-related illnesses. Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a Yellow Heat Warning for the entire region of Haliburton, Kawartha, Northumberland and Peterborough counties, beginning on Monday, July 13 through Thursday, July 16.
As of July 14, 2026, the Trent Lakes Grass and Forest Fire Index is set to HIGH.
A High Danger Rating means forest fuels are very dry and the fire risk is serious. New fires may start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts. Extreme caution must be used in any burning activities. Open-air burning is discouraged.
